From Arctic Fjords to the Fairmont Penthouse

The Meet-Cute

It all started with a digital swipe and a marathon first date. Within the first hour, the conversation had zigzagged from crazy travel stories to renewable energy policy to a mutual bucket list quest to swim with whale sharks. While the chemistry was instant, Steve was initially too distracted by the menu’s most "experimental" items to realize he was meeting his future wife—it turns out he’s never met a bold culinary risk he didn’t want to try. Luckily, he eventually caught on.

Our Adventures

Our relationship has been defined by a shared "yes" to the unconventional. We’ve mushed husky sleds through the snow, dove with sea lions, climbed frozen waterfalls, and watched the Northern Lights dance in the Arctic.

We both realized pretty quickly that this was something special, but our conviction regarding our future together was solidified through real-world adventures: moving in together, navigating complex construction projects, the everyday highs and lows of life in the city, and finally making good on that whale shark pact on our second trip together.

Life at Home

When we aren't halfway across the globe, we're leaning into our favorite San Francisco rituals: exploring new restaurants, lounging on the couch, or hiking the nearby hillsides. While Adrienne is the one who meticulously thinks through every detail and angle, Steve remains adventurous enough to try "unique" local cocktails (strawberry, yogurt, and pickle flavor, anyone?).

The only person not entirely sold on the arrangement is Roma, Adrienne’s cat. Despite Steve’s ever-increasing efforts to win her over, she remains a skeptical third party who mostly just tolerates his presence for the snacks.

The Big Question

Our engagement was a high-octane celebration of the city we love. It began with Tartine morning buns and a town car that whisked us back to our first date spot, Horsefeather. At the summit of Grand View Park, Steve got down on one knee with the Pacific as our backdrop. After a "paparazzi" surprise from friends, we took to the sky in a sea plane over the Golden Gate—a perfect perspective shift before ending the night with an Omakase feast and our families.

Why the Fairmont?

We wanted a venue as unique and storied as our adventures. From the celestial ceiling of the two-story library to the Moroccan-style billiard room and the epic terrace view, the Fairmont Penthouse is a mix of San Francisco's most iconic vibes. It is a space unlike any other, and we can't wait to share it with the people we love most.
